My Journey to Healthy Living
Wow! Where to even start?!  Let’s go back to 2013 – that’s when the real craziness started.  I had just finished my last year homeschooling my youngest son, he was transitioning to public school, and I went back to work full-time at our family business of 50 years. I was tired, unfulfilled, discontent, and unhappy in a LOT of ways, and I could not pinpoint why.  I had a good life (so it appeared). My needs and wants were taken care of, but something was missing. I just couldn’t pinpoint it.

In April 2014, Young Living entered my life! I had Plantar Fasciitis and a friend shared two drops of oil with me... LIFE CHANGING in 20 seconds!! Little did I know when I started that journey, it was going to change the trajectory of my life.  I don’t believe I would have made it through what was coming my way without those products, or the people that had crossed my path.

Moving forward to 2017, here’s where life started spiraling...

I completely remodeled a 60-year-old house that took almost a year to finish, we barely got moved in when I had my first ever serious health issue. My intestines twisted and looped (yes, that can happen for no apparent reason without warning). My son was being bullied at school and struggling with many issues because of it. The next month my dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. We were told his case was incurable with Western medicine, so we decided to take a natural approach and I flew 1,200 miles away for two months with him. He passed away two weeks after we returned home.

All of this (and so much more) happened within 5 months, and my life just stopped. I was beyond numb!  I was not in control of anything at this point. My world was crashing all around me. 
 
Fast forward yet again to 2019

My youngest was still struggling beyond my help. I was still drowning inside from all the things that had happened, and my stress level was through the roof!  For the first time in my life, I was experiencing the beginning of an obvious health decline. Things were surfacing that I knew I had to address, or I was probably gonna die. Seriously! My diet was terrible, I had gained a lot of weight, my hormones were a mess, and I was seriously anemic. I slept almost all day on the weekends - nap after nap. I had never experienced depression, but I got a good taste of it. I was completely DROWNING in all the things.  Did I mention that STRESS can flip your world upside down and that StressAway should be sold by the gallon?
Insanity:
doing the same thing over & over expecting different results.
In the summer of 2019, I had a lot of hard decisions to make. BIG decisions. And lots of changes to address.  I WAS A HOT MESS all the way around in almost every area of my life. I had to DECIDE if I was going to stay in that pit or get out of it! I decided to “get out” and take action.  I found an amazing chiropractor. He is so much more than your normal chiropractor, and I’m forever grateful to him. He helped set me on a path that would totally change how I felt.

I made a 180-degree change in my lifestyle – diet, oils, supplements, daily exercise, chiropractic care, and MINDSET!   That pit I was drowning in became shallow, and as my health improved and my weight loss journey unfolded, I began to regain the feeling of hope, confidence, a positive outlook, and a stronger-than-ever mindset! I've always been a persistent person, but now I am very persistent and determined to go after whatever I set my mind on.
 
I began focusing on myself – not in a selfish way, but in a positive wayYou see, you cannot serve from an empty vessel. Just in case you need the reminder, it's okay to take care of yourself (release the guilt).

I look back and think why did I not do this all along? But, when you are raising kids, working, and taking care of home and others, it’s easy to forget YOU. I also started working on self-growth, (which in turn helps you to help others), and diving deeper into that healthier lifestyle. Diet and exercise are important! They are not luxuries, and you should not think of them as selfish.

Let’s not forget that emotions are real and they should definitely be addressed as well (not just the physical stuff). Once again, thankful for all the tools and oils that I had at my fingertips for emotional support! 
Thankfully, the journey provided me with good "tools" at my fingertips and knowledgeable people to help me in many different ways. 

Writing a New Chapter

I had just been in survival mode for so long and not living!  My heart’s desires have completely changed.  Now, single at 54, all these changes still in place, I feel better than I did when I was thirty, and I have found many of the missing pieces!  I have a community of like-minded people in my Young Living family, I have a bucket list of places I want to visit, of things I want to do – things that I never even remotely thought I wanted to do because I didn’t feel good physically or emotionally!!!

I'm still workin' on myself (always room for growth & improvement), but in the meantime, I plan on vibrantly livin' life to the fullest!
